Owls Fly Past Warriors
BOX SCORE
Klamath Falls, Ore – Playing on a near perfect day at Trevor Derrah Field the Oregon Tech Lady Owls improved to 6-2-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) and 7-8-2 on the season after downing the Warriors of Corban College 2-1 Saturday afternoon. Oregon Tech moved into 4th place in the CCC with the win.
After a scoreless 1st half both teams picked up the pace in the second half and the 62nd minute Oregon Tech broke the ice as Sara Ziegler (Ruch, OR) sent a direct kick from 25 yards out across the Warrior goal that was redirected for the score by Dacarie Robertson (Medford, OR). Tech found it’s self down a player when Amy Furlan (Medford, OR) received her second yellow card of the afternoon and was sent off the field. However just 3 minutes after the ejection Oregon Tech scored what proved to be the winning goal when Kelly Lewis (Estacada, OR) sent a cross to Janelle Stoner (Central Point, OR) who found herself one versus one with Corban goal keeper Karyn Allen (Merlin, OR) who was powerless to prevent the goal.
Corban kept things interesting with just 10 minutes remaining Brittany Bowman (Shelton, WA) scored to cut the Tech lead to 2-1. Oregon Tech held on to keep Corban from scoring the tying goal thanks to great defense by Brooke Cole (Portland, OR), Dacarie Robertson, and Mackenzie Garton (Milton Freewater, OR) along with goal keeper Jaclyn Unruh (Medford, OR) who was credited with 5 saves for the game.
The Lady Owls will wrap up the 2008 regular season this Tuesday, October 28, when they host Southern Oregon University at 7:00 pm at Trevor Derrah Field. SOU is just one point behind Oregon Tech in the CCC standings with a record of 6-3.
