CCC Players of the Week Named in Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball

The following Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes were recognized as conference Players of the Week in their respective sports for the period Oct. 20-26.

Men’s Soccer

Offensive – College of Idaho senior Antonio Bautista (Homedale, Idaho) had two goals in a win over No. 24 Concordia and two second-half goals in a win over Cascade as the Yotes completed a 12-0-0 regular season CCC campaign. Other nominees: Tyler Camp, Concordia; Davor Lukic, Warner Pacific; Corey Johnson, Evergreen; Mark Schubert, Corban.

Defensive – College of Idaho senior Alex Penrod (Las Vegas, Nev.) had two assists and locked down Concordia and Cascade’s top scoring threats as the Coyotes completed a perfect 12-0-0 CCC season with a pair of victories. Other nominees: Aaron Franklin, Corban; Matt Stalnik, Evergreen.

Women’s Soccer

Offensive – Concordia sophomore Kaitlyn Tebbs (Bend, Ore.) scored two goals and an assist as Concordia remained undefeated with 3-0 victories over College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. Tebbs has scored 10 goals and added four assists in the Cavaliers’ last nine games. Other nominees: Allie Dufault, College of Idaho; Kate Green, Evergreen; Kelly Lewis, Oregon Tech; Brittney Marshall, Northwest.

Defensive – Concordia junior Georgie Christensen (Hillsboro, Ore.) posted a pair of shutouts and lowered her goals-against average to 0.31 per game. Christensen had three saves in a 3-0 win over College of Idaho and four saves in a 3-0 win over Eastern Oregon. Christensen has allowed just one goal in her last 860 minutes. Other nominees: Sonya Daisley-Harrison, Evergreen; Colleen Smith, College of Idaho.

Volleyball

Player – Oregon Tech senior Krista Wooley (Reedsport, Ore.) had match-highs in kills in wins over Warner Pacific and Cascade as the Owls maintained their hold on first place in the CCC. Wooley had 14 kills vs. WPC and 17 vs. Cascade. Other nominees:Grace Deboodt, Eastern Oregon; Rachel Gowen, Corban; Natalie Forgan, Cascade; Lindsey Fryer, Concordia; Kristin Henning, College of Idaho; Lauren Holtz, Northwest; Brooke Stribling, Northwest Christian; Mia Wortel, Southern Oregon.

Libero –Southern Oregon sophomore Maggie Rivers (Salem, Ore.) had 34 digs – 13 vs. Cascade and 21 vs. Warner Pacific – as the Raiders posted 3-0 home victories. Rivers also recorded four service aces. Other nominees: Rebecca Franke, Corban; Mercedes LeClaire, Northwest Christian; Whitney Owen, College of Idaho; Kim Lindow, Concordia; Sareena Simpson, Southern Oregon.

Setter – Concordia freshman Skyler Kamaka (Kaneohe, Hawaii) posted match highs in assists in two matches, including a career-high 56-assist output in a four-set win over Eastern Oregon. Kamaka followed with 28 assists in a 3-0 loss to College of Idaho. Other nominees: Whitney Hoff, Northwest Christian; Katie Huston, Evergreen; Jessica Lea, Eastern Oregon; Naomi Reimer, College of Idaho; Lindsey Stone, Southern Oregon; Amy Thompson, Corban.

Cross Country

Male – Southern Oregon senior Cameron Kreuz (Portland, Ore.) claimed the individual crown at the Oregon State Beaver Classic in Corvallis. Kreuz clocked a time of 24:30 over the 8K course at Avery Park in a field that included a host of NCAA Division I institutions. Southern Oregon won the team title. Other nominees: Paul Sartin, College of Idaho; Cam Starner, Eastern Oregon.

Female – College of Idaho sophomore Stephanie Helm (Challis, Idaho) won the award for the fifth time this season. Helm was the top collegiate finisher at the Lewis-Clark State Invitational, clocking a time of 17:46 over 5,000 meters. Helm set a C of I record for the 5K cross country distance in addition to recording the fastest time in the CCC this season. Other nominees: Ana Casillas, Evergreen; Carli Moller, Corban.
