Two of the top teams in the Cascade Conference are set to battle Tuesday night at McNeal Pavilion as Southern Oregon hosts Oregon Tech at 7 p.m.

Oregon Tech (19-4, 14-2) is tied with the College of Idaho for first place in the Cascade Conference. Southern Oregon (17-7, 14-3) is one match back in second place.

The match could carry huge playoff implications as it comes to seeding and a home match in the upcoming Cascade Conference playoffs.

Finishing in third place means a home quarterfinal match on Nov. 11. Finishing in second place means a quarterfinal bye and then traveling to the conference regular season champion for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 14 and Nov. 15.

The Raiders knocked off Oregon Tech in three sets earlier in the year.

“That was early in the season and they didn’t play as good as they are playing now,” SOU Head Coach Josh Rohlfing said. “They have attackers at every position and once they got on offense they are very hard to stop.”

SOU senior middle blocker Mia Wortel continued her impressive play over the weekend, moving into fourth place on the school’s all-time Kills list with 1,095.

Wortel now ranks fourth in the NAIA with an attack percentage of .405.
