C of I Shuts Out Northwest Christian, 6-0
Box Score
CALDWELL, Idaho - Antonio Bautista recorded his second career hat trick, as The College of Idaho men's soccer team won their fifth-straight match, blanking Northwest Christian, 6-0, at Symms Field.
Win the win, the Yotes (6-2-1, 5-0-0 CCC) remain perfect in Cascade Conference play and hold a two-game lead on Cascade College in the CCC South Division.
It didn't take long for Bautista to get in the scoring act, as the junior from Homedale headed home a left-footed Emir Kobic cross in front of the goal mouth for a 1-0 lead - just 162 seconds into the tilt. He'd make it 3-0 late in the period, heading home a long cross from the right sideline from Brian Weiss, then add his third goal on a penalty kick early in the second half.
Others continued the onslaught for the Coyotes - as Jesus Lopez dodged four defenders on a run up the center of the field, scoring a goal in the 31st minute to give the hosts a two-goal advantage. Esteban Cabrera added a goal in the 77th minute, while Brian Griffiths capped the scoring with a ringing one-time boot from 25-yards out into the upper netting.
The visiting Beacons (1-7-1, 0-5-0) were outshot by the Yotes, 20-5, and saw the Purple and Gold record 13 corner kicks. Three keepers - Aaron Reynolds, Trevor Spielman, and Theodore Coleman combined for the Yotes third shutout of the season.
The C of I returns to action tomorrow, hosting Oregon Tech at 4 p.m.
