BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Concordia University women’s soccer team went up 2-0 in the first period and left no doubt in the outcome with five scores in the second half as the Cavaliers knocked up Northwest 7-0 for head coach Grant Landy’s 200th career win.

With the result, fifth-ranked Concordia improved to 10-0-1 on the season with a 4-0-0 mark in Cascade Collegiate Conference play while Northwest dropped to 3-3-1 overall and 2-2-0 in league action.

In his 12th season at the helm, Landy has complied a 200-44-15 (.801) overall record. He is currently ranked sixth all-time in wins in the NAIA and has guided the Cavaliers to eight straight CCC Crowns.

“I have been blessed to have coached some fantastic young women the past 12 years. This is a nice milestone for me, but more for the players in the program. Our consistency in excellence from year-to-year is what stands out when you talk about 200 wins. My players have bought into the philosophies of our program, and have passed those core values down to the younger players," Landy said.

The Cavaliers received first-period goals from Jessica Ramback and Kaitlyn Tebbs before exploding for five additional scores in the second half. After another Ramback putback in the 53rd minute, CU scored back-to-back goals in back-to-back minutes on two occasions for the final 7-0 spread.

Angie Turner connected on her third goal of the season in the 61st minute and Justine Pronovost notched her eighth goal in the 62nd minute for the 5-0 lead before Kalton McFadden and Shea Miller reached for scores ninth in the 70th and 71st minute for the 7-0 finale.

“This was our best effort against a conference opponent this year,” Landy said. “We had six different players score goals which is a testament to our depth. The players are buying into how we want to play."

Georgie Chrisensen and Leah Flores combined for the shutout while splitting goalkeeping duties. Flores recorded the lone CU save as the CU defense managed to hold the Eagles to two shot attempts. Concordia seniors Samantha Smith and Caitlin Verhofstadt each recorded two assists on the contest.

The Cavaliers return to action tomorrow as they host Evergreen State at the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation Complex for a 5 p.m. conference affair.
