SEATTLE, Wash.
- The Eagle women took third place and men's freshman Seth Bridges (Anderson Island, Wash./Lakes HS) finished 8th in today's men's 6k as the NU cross country team took part in the Emerald City Invitational in Seattle's Woodland Park today.

Bridges was in 6th place with 600 meters to go but was out kicked by several runners to finish in 8th with a time of 27:32.

The Eagle women ran a 6k distance today rather than the usual 5k because the meet was co-hosted by NCAA Division I Seattle University. The course proved to be one of the most challenging courses NU will see this season with some tough hills, corners and some difficult footing.

With 46 runners taking part in the women's event, the Eagles had the following finishes and times:
  • Lindsey Wagner 11th place (25:10)
  • Bailey Granstrom 23rd place (26:21)
  • Paige DeLapp 26th place (27:01)
  • Joy Gebhart 34th place (28:17)
  • Shayna Prause 35th place (28:26)
"We made a couple of mental mistakes that we need to avoid in the future," commented head coach Preston Brashers, "but I'm confident we will come out sharper in our next race. We've been training hard coming into this meet and it showed for some of our runners who didn't look 100%," Brashers continued, "I thought Shayna and Paige had strong races, especially for mid-distance runners running a challenging 6k course."

Other schools and clubs represented in today's meet were Seattle Pacific, Seattle University, Club Northwest, Seattle Running Club, Bellevue CC, University of Washington, Central Washington and Green River CC.

Coming up next for the Eagles will be the Cascade Conference Preview meet at Lincoln Park in West Seattle on Saturday, October 18. NU is hosting the CCC Cross Country Championships on November 8, and this gives conference teams an opportunity to run the course prior to the championships.
