Coyotes Shut Out Oregon Tech, 3-0
CALDWELL, Idaho - Antonio Bautista scored a goal and an assist, as The College of Idaho men's soccer team won their sixth-consecutive match, battling tough field conditions for a 3-0 victory over Oregon Tech at Symms Field.
After waiting over 90 minutes for the match to start due to a pair of lightning delays in the preceding women's game, it took the Yotes most of the first half to adjust to the saturated, muddy field. However, it was Bautista who hammered home a penalty kick in the 34th minute after an OIT (3-7-1, 2-3 CCC) hand ball in the box.
Bautista and Brian Griffiths teamed with Brad Byers for a goal early in the second half to give the Yotes (7-2-1, 6-0) come cushion, as the freshman rocketed a ball into the net from 25-yards out.
Garga Caserta completed the scoring, taking a cross from Scott Thompson and knocking it home in the 73rd minute.
Aaron Reynolds notched the shutout, facing just five shots all afternoon - with only two on goal, as the Yotes held a commanding 23-5 edge in shots.
The Yotes hit the road next weekend, meeting Cascade and Corban in the Willamette Valley.
