Lady Yotes Roll Past Corban in Three Sets
CALDWELL, Idaho - Megan Spinks and Naomi Reimer led The College of Idaho attack with 11 kills apiece, as the Lady Yotes won their eighth-straight match with a 26-24, 25-14, 25-15 victory over Corban College in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The win for the Lady Yotes (11-6, 8-2 CCC) was their 42nd-straight at home and kept the Purple and Gold just one game out of first place in the Cascade Conference.
Set 1 was very competitive, seeing five lead changes - as the Warriors (7-8, 5-5) battled back from an 18-13 deficit to earn a set point at 24-23. However, back-to-back hitting errors and a Sarah Buhler kill handed the win to the Yotes.
The final two sets were all C of I - as the Lady Yotes sprinted to an 11-3 lead in Set 2 and a 9-3 lead in Set 3 to win their seventh-straight against the Salem, Ore., school.
Reimer recorded a double-double, adding a match-high 24 assists and six digs to her stat line, while Buhler added eight kills and Kristin Henning seven. The Yotes played solid defense, as Whitney Owen had 17 digs and Stacie Drumm recorded 15.
The Warriors, who had one more kill in the final two sets combined than they did in Set 1, got nine kills from Tiffany Land, with Rachelle Davenport adding seven kills and 11 digs.
The Lady Yotes put their win streak on the line Wednesday, stepping away from CCC play for a 7 p.m. match with No. 12 ranked Lewis-Clark State.
