EOU Unable to Clinch Victory vs. SOU
LA GRANDE, Ore.- The Mountaineers got off to a great start, scoring the first goal of the game, but couldn't hold off the Raiders of Southern Oregon University.
Hailey Bohnet scored the first goal of the game, off an assistant from Tara Moran, for the Mounties in the 36th minute of the game. Just minutes later the Raiders answered back. Eastern went into the half tied 1-1.
Southern came back after the half to score early in the 56th minute to put them ahead 2-1. This goal was enough to give Southern Oregon the win. Junior Marth Billings stated, "We played hard and aggressive, but couldn't come out with the win. We are going to stay positive and get prepared to win next weekend."
Head coach Jessy Watson stated, "We played well, and stuck to our game plan, but we switched off for a few minutes, and Southern capitalized on it." Coach Watson also noted the great play from sophomore forward Lauren Souza. Coach Watson praised todays play, "The team played well as a whole, we just didn't come up with a win today."
The Mounties hit the road October 10th and 11th to face Corban College and Warner Pacific at 3:00p.m. and 1:00p.m. respectively. The Mounties wont have another home game until October 24th and 25th against Cascade College and Concordia University.
