C of I and OIT Play to 1-1 Draw
Playing in a quagmire in a game which saw a pair of lightning delays, The College of Idaho and Oregon Tech women's soccer teams played to a 1-1 draw this afternoon at Symms Field.
The game was delayed 18 minutes at the start due to lightning, while halftime was prolonged by 41 extra minutes due to a thunderstorm that flooded the field, leaving portions of the pitch looking more like it was ready for a tractor pull.
OIT (3-6-2, 2-0-1 CCC) got on the board first, taking advantage of a C of I hand ball just outside the penalty box on the left flank in the ninth minute. A ball was served into the mud, with Amy Furlan flicking home the Owls lone goal.
Following the lengthy halftime, the Yotes (7-3-1, 3-0-1) got the equalizer at the 65 minute mark, as Allie Dufault rifled home a rebound off an Ashley Page shot.
Both teams had chances, as the clubs combined for 32 shots - with the Yotes recording ten shots on goal, but neither could find the net. Tech keeper Jaclyn Unruh had seven saves in regulation - including a pair of diving saves to keep the score tied.
The Lady Yotes head out on a four-match road trip beginning next Friday at Warner Pacific.
