Mounties Run Well in the Mud
On the men's side Eastern ran in the first of four races. The NAIA, NCAA Division 2 and NCAA Division 3 men's race (followed by the women's division and then the NCAA Division 1, Community College, Club and Open later in the day).
Leading the way for the men was Junior Cam Starner with a large course PR. Starner was also just off of his lifetime PR. Freshman Terry Johnsen was next up to lead two other Mounties across the line in life time PRS. Carlos Quintana ran right at a minute PR to finish 3rd for EOU was followed by his old High School Teammate Fernando Morales who ran about a 20 second PR to finish as the number four man on the day.
Also running PRS were Jeff Roy and Michael Wanta who finished 6th and 8th for the Mounties.
For the second straight week, the Mounties women were led by Senior Marcella Bosch who ran a very fine last two miles, after a sluggish start to finish 19th out of 288 finishers.
Next up for EOU were Katie Clapp and then the rapidly improving Alma Garcilazo who ran a life time PR by about a minute over the 5,000 meter course. Alma's performance was probably the single best performance, relative to past performances, of all the Mountie women for the weekend.
Rounding out the squad for EOU was Kei Wasson, Kyle Janssen, Rachel and Ariel O'Reilly. Ariel also recorded a life time PR.
The Mounties will have next weekend off then run a small home meet during Homecoming on October 18th.
