KIRKLAND, Wash. - Warner Pacific scored just 2 minutes and 42 seconds into the game tonight and never looked back as they defeated the Northwest U., 5-3, in Cascade Conference play at Lake Washington HS Stadium.

WPC (8-3, 4-1) jumped out early scoring the first three goals of the game in 21 minutes. Luis Galvan (penalty kick), Davor Lukic, and Galvan again put the Knights up 3-0 before Northwest's (4-7-2, 2-5) junior Brandon Screen (Silverdale, Wash.) put one through for the Eagles at the 30:45 mark of the first half. NU's Luke Fischer (Fresh., Kalispell, Mont.) scored (42:25) on an assist by Screen to make the score, 3-2, but one minute and 13 seconds later Warner Pac's Chris Price scored one of his two goals from an assist by teammate Alija Sacirovic (43:38). Price scored again in the second half at 52:17 and Micah Williams (Sr., Sacramento, Calif.) ended the scoring for Northwest with his goal at the 75:08 mark. Teammate Shayn Fite (Soph., Kennewick, Wash.) was credited for the assist.

Ted Latta had 2 saves in goal for WPC and Kyle Wall (Jr., Seattle, Wash.) had 3 saves for NU.

"Warner Pacific has a lot of firepower up top and got off to a quick start tonight." commented Eagle head coach, Gary McIntosh. "We're going through some tough times at the moment with injuries and tired legs but I have faith in my guys that they will recover and persevere. Give credit to Warner Pac, they're deserving of their national ranking (#25 last week) and are a tough team to play."

Northwest now travels to Klamath Falls, Oregon to take on Oregon Tech on Friday, October 10. The WPC victory maintains Warner Pacific's tie with Concordia for the North Division lead as both have identical 4-1 records and makes the game between the Knights and Concordia on Saturday in Beaverton a key match-up. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
