Northwest Christian's Ahrens wins C of I Invitational
WILDER, Idaho - Thanks to an even-par 288 this morning, the Walla Walla Community College men’s golf team claimed the team title at the 2008 College of Idaho Invitational at River Bend Golf Course.
The Warriors were led by Cameron Whittle, who carded a two-under 70 on the nearly 7,000-yard course, helping him join a four-way tie for third-place overall. Teammate Mike Noreen recorded an even-par 72 to place second.
Northwest Christian’s Justin Ahrens claimed medalist honors, finishing the 54-hole event at one-under par, including a 73 this morning. His efforts helped the Beacons to a third-place finish overall.
Concordia was the top Cascade Conference school, finishing 18 strokes behind WWCC, as Marc Arima and Brad Bachman were in the logjam at 220 – in third place.
Northwest Nazarene finished fourth, followed by Corban College, Treasure Valley CC, host C of I, and Warner Pacific. The Yotes played their best golf of the tourney today, carding four scores in the 70s, including a 75 from Ben Coate.
