Klamath Falls, Ore. – The No. 1 ranked NAIA II team in the country began the evening unveiling their 2008 National Championship banner in front of a home crowd of 1,500 and then dispatched of Cal Pac member William Jessup University 92-46 tonight at Danny Miles Court.

The Tech defense was stellar, holding the Warriors to only 27.3% from the field, while shooting 55.6% in the season opener. The Owls were 35-63 from the floor, including 8-26 from the 3-point line while out rebounding WJU 58 to 25.

Oregon Tech’s Christian Cavanaugh (Sr. Mill Valley, CA), tonight’s Applebee’s Player of the Game, scored a game high 21 points on 10-12 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. Miles Daly (Jr. Medford, OR) ended the evening in double digits with 14 points followed by Jguwon Hogges (Sr. Atwater, CA) with 13. Senior post Josh Wetzler grabbed a game high 12 rebounds and dished out seven assists for Tech.

WJU’s Zach Sowers led the Warriors in all three categories, including 12 points, five rebounds and handed out two assists. Teammate Lucas Birchard followed with nine points and four rebounds.

Oregon Tech (1-0) will be on the road for their next three contests before their next home game versus Multnomah Bible on Wednesday, November 19th.
