CCC Players of the Week Named in Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball

The following Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes were recognized as conference Players of the Week in their respective sports for the period Nov. 3-9.

Cross Country

Male – Concordia senior Eric Burck (Ephrata, Wash.) captured the individual title at the CCC Cross Country Championships in Seattle, clocking a time of 25:04 over the 8K course to defeat a field of 92 other runners. The Cavs finished second to Southern Oregon. Other nominees: Caleb Goins, Corban; Cameron Kreuz, Southern Oregon.

Female – College of Idaho sophomore Stephanie Helm (Challis, Idaho) won the honor for the sixth time after claiming her second straight CCC individual crown. Helm covered the 5K distance in a time of 17:56 to lead the Yotes to the CCC title and an automatic berth in the NAIA Cross Country Championships. Other nominees: Carli Moller, Corban; Andria Scheese, Concordia.

Men’s Soccer

Offensive – College of Idaho senior Garga Caserta (Aracatuba, Brazil) had a goal and an assist in the Yotes’ 3-1 CCC semifinal victory over visiting Warner Pacific. Other nominees: Skyler Kimball, Concordia.

Defensive – College of Idaho freshman Aaron Reynolds (Boise, Idaho) turned back all three shots on goal in the Yotes’ 3-0 CCC Tournament semifinal victory over visiting Warner Pacific. C of I improved to 14-2-1 in advancing to the CCC championship match. Other nominees: David Proud, Concordia.

Women’s Soccer

Offensive – Concordia sophomore Danielle MacBride (McMinnville, Ore.) connected on her first goal of the season to give the Cavs a 2-0 lead in an eventual 4-0 CCC semifinal victory over Corban. MacBride’s goal came on just her third shot on goal of the season.

Defensive –Concordia freshman Jackie Hendrickson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) turned in sparkling defensive play at midfield to help lead the Cavs to a 4-0 win over Corban in the semifinals of the CCC tournament. With Hendrickson patrolling midfield, the Cavs did not allow a shot on goal. Other nominees: Colleen Smith, College of Idaho.

Volleyball

Player – Southern Oregon sophomore Leanne Stennett (Encinitas, Calif.) had 25 kills, 15 digs, six assists and four service aces as the Raiders swept CCC matches vs. Corban and Concordia to secure the No. 2 seed in the CCC’s postseason tournament. Other nominees: Jessie Link, College of Idaho; Kandice Gleaves, Evergreen; Krista Wooley, Oregon Tech; Lindsey Fryer, Concordia; Grace Deboodt, Eastern Oregon.

Libero – College of Idaho sophomore Whitney Owen (Caldwell, Idaho) had 43 digs as the Yotes posted road victories over Eastern Oregon and Northwest Christian to claim the CCC regular season title. Other nominees: Maggie Rivers, Southern Oregon; Kim Lindow, Concordia; Sareena Simpson, Eastern Oregon.

Setter – Southern Oregon junior Lindsey Stone (Ashland, Ore.) won the honor for the sixth time this season. In two matches last week, Stone totaled 75 assists, 10 kills and nine digs as the Raiders
claimed the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the CCC’s postseason tournament. Other nominees: Madie Machurek, College of Idaho; Katie Huston, Evergreen; Skyler Kamaka, Concordia; Jessica Lea, Eastern Oregon.
