PORTLAND, Ore. – Five teams and 10 individuals from the Cascade Collegiate Conference will be part of the national championship field when the NAIA Cross Country Championships are held Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wis.

Southern Oregon’s men’s team and College of Idaho’s women’s team earned the CCC’s automatic bids to the national championships by winning titles at last weekend’s Cascade Collegiate Conference championships in Seattle. The rest of the CCC teams and individuals advancing to the national meet were selected as at-large entrants.

CCC teams joining fourth-ranked Southern Oregon in the men’s field are No. 13 Concordia and No. 15 College of Idaho. In addition, five CCC individuals not on advancing teams were selected to the field. That list includes Korey Humberston (Oregon Tech), Cam Starner (Eastern Oregon), Zach Heath (Eastern Oregon), Brian Rakestraw (Evergreen) and Jonathan Graves (Warner Pacific).

The men’s 8K race will feature 32 teams (including 25 conferences/independents/unaffiliated champions and seven at-large bids) and 111 individual qualifiers. Malone (Ohio) captured its second national title last season and is once again the front- runner this season. The Pioneers have gone wire-to-wire as the top team in NAIA Top 25 poll this season. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) finished second in the final Top 25 poll and will race for its first national title. The Cougars will be led by defending NAIA individual national champion Aron Rono.

The women’s field will include two teams from the CCC – No. 10 College of Idaho and No. 21 Concordia. CCC individuals selected to participate include Marcella Bosch (Eastern Oregon), Christine Eckstein (Eastern Oregon), Lindsey Wagner (Northwest), Rachel Novak (Oregon Tech) and Annie Mullen (Evergreen).

The women’s 5K race will feature 32 teams, including 25 conferences/independents/unaffiliated champions, seven at-large teams, and 112 individual qualifiers. Cedarville (Ohio) held the top spot in nine of the 11 NAIA Top 25 polls this season and is the favorite to capture the team title. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) was ranked No. 1 twice this year and will challenge for the title. APU will be led by Jaime Canterbury, the defending individual national champion. Simon Fraser (B.C.), which has claimed the last five championships, received an at-large berth and will aim for its 11th national title.
