Northwest U. Wins Big Over Walla Walla
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Northwest University jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they scored a 106-66 victory over Walla Walla this afternoon in a non-conference contest.
Northwest U. shot 59.4% in the first half and took a 53-33 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Eagles also shot 66.7% from the 3-point line shooting 10 for 15 in the half. Walla Walla managed 40% shooting from 2 point range and only 14% shooting (1-7) from the 3 point arc.
The Eagles (1-2) had five players in double figures with senior Eddie Coulson (N. Las Vegas, NV) leading the way with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomore Greg George scored 20 points, junior Blake Solomon (Kent, Wash.) had 16 points and 7 assists, Lucas Ashe (Soph., Spokane, Wash.) had 14 including shooting 4 for 5 from 3 point range and Greg Spurgetis (Sr., Spokane, Wash.) added 11 points for the Eagles. NU out rebounded Walla Walla 47-23.
Leading the way for Walla Walla was Jonny Long who finished with 13 points, Devin Harrison scored 11 points and Jheremy Haynes and Joshua Henderson each scored 10 for the Wolves.
Northwest will continue play on Saturday when they face Lewis-Clark State College in Walla Walla at 6 p.m.
