Oregon Tech's Lisa Busch (Jr. Eugene, Ore.) scored a career high 28 points, including 6-8 from 3-point range to lead the Owls to an 81-73 non-conference win over Bethany University.
Owls Fight Off Late Bruin Rally
Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Oregon Tech Lady Owls hit a season high 13 three-point field goals and held off a late Bethany rally to secure an 81-73 non-conference win over Cal Pac member Bethany University tonight at Danny Miles Court. The Owls Improve to 5-0 on the season, while Bethany drops to 0-2 with the loss.
The game was tied at 20-20 with 5:38 remaining in the first half before the Owls were able to get some breathing room with a 14-5 run to lead 34-25 with 3:07 on the clock. Oregon Tech was then able to gain their first double-digit lead of the game on an Amanda Johnston jumper with just over two minutes left to go up 36-25. Bethany then went on a 7-2 run to close out the half, finding themselves down just six points at 38-32 heading to the locker room.
Amanda Johnston again gave the Owls their first double-digit lead of the second stanza on a jumper with 17:17 on the clock. Tech would eventually go on to lead by as many as 18 points on a layup by Crystal Trout to lead 63-45 with 8:16 remaining in the game.
The Bruins then clawed their way back into the game closing within six points on a 19-7 run with just over two minutes to play at 70-64, but Oregon Tech would not let BU get any closer, as the Owls would ice the game trading free throws for baskets and go on to win by the final of 81-73.
The Owls shot 54.7% from the floor, including 13-22 from long-range, while Tech held Bethany to 39.1% shooting on the night.
Oregon Tech was led by Lisa Busch with a career high 28 points, including 6-8 from 3-point range. Amanda Johnston followed with 24 points and 7 rebounds, while Kelsey New added 10 points in the win. Point guard, Meagan Miyasaka, pulled down 9 rebounds and dished out a game high 9 assists.
Kayla Lynch led the Bruin scoring attack with 20 points, while Rose Brown added 10 points and 9 boards.
Oregon Tech (5-0) will next host Simpson University on Tuesday, November 18th with the tip set for 5:30 pm.
