Southern Oregon setter Lindsey Stone was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
SOU's Lindsey Stone Headlines All-CCC Team for 2nd Straight Year
PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior setter Lindsey Stone of Southern Oregon University, an eight-time league Setter of Week who ended the regular season ranked fourth nationally in assists, has been voted the CCC’s Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, the league office announced Monday. Liz Mendiola, who guided the College of Idaho to the CCC’s regular season and postseason tournament titles and berth in the NAIA Championships, was named Coach of the Year.
Stone, of Ashland, Ore., helped Southern Oregon to a second-place CCC regular season finish and a runner-up showing at the CCC postseason tournament. During the regular season, Stone averaged 10.8 assists per set to easily lead the league in that category.
Maggie Rivers of Southern Oregon was named the CCC’s Defensive Specialist/Libero of the Year. Rivers, a sophomore from Salem, Ore., averaged 4.11 digs per set during the regular season. Setter/hitter Jessica Lea of Eastern Oregon, a freshman from Prineville, Ore., was voted the league’s Newcomer of the Year.
Corban College was voted the recipient of the Champion of Character Award, which is based on the NAIA’s core tenets of respect, integrity and sportsmanship.
