Josh Wetzler finished with a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Owls improved to 5-0 with a 119-72 win over Multnomah Bible College.
Owls Run Past Multnomah
Klamath Falls, Ore. – No. 1 ranked Oregon Tech had six players in double-digit points and held Multnomah Bible College to a season low 72 points, as the Owls rolled past the Lions 119-72 tonight at Danny Miles Court. All 14 roster players scored in the win, as Tech improved to 5-0 on the season while Multnomah dropped to 1-4 with the loss.
The first basket of the night went to Multnomah but it was all Owls after that, as Tech got their first double-digit lead at 13-3 with 16:39 remaining in the first half. The Owls would push the lead to 36-19 and then extend it to a comfortable 56-34 lead heading to the locker room at the half.
In the second half Oregon Tech held the Lions to only 3-25 from 3-point range (12.0%), then doubled the score 88-44 with 12:10 remaining in the game and eventually would go up by as many as 52 points before settling for the final score of 119-72.
Oregon Tech was led in scoring by Christian Cavanaugh with 23 points followed by Andy Siverly netting 14. Josh Wetzler finished the night with a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds. Also in double-digit points were Ryan Beesley and Jguwon Hogges with 12 each while Myles Daley added 10. Justin Parnell dished out 9 of Oregon Tech’s season high 33 assists with Wetzler, Beesley and Siverly adding 4 each.
Multnomah was led tonight by Jacob Fischer with 21 points, including 5-11 from long range, followed by Nick Kamlade with 17, Tyler Yates added 16 and Mike Woodard 13 points.
The Midland Empire Liberty Northwest Tournament kicks off at Danny Miles Court this weekend, as host Oregon Tech meets Bethany University this Friday at 7:30 and Southern Oregon will be matched up with Lee University in the tournament opener at 5:30 p.m.
