Warner Pacific Tops Corban 6-1
GLADSTONE, Ore. --- The Warner Pacific men’s soccer team fired on all cylinders Saturday afternoon, netting four second-half goals en route to a 6-1 romp over Corban in the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament quarterfinal match.
The Knights were lead by their trio of explosive seniors as Chris Price, Davor Lukic, and Luis Galvan all had two goals apiece. The Knights advance to the semifinals where they will meet South Division champion College of Idaho. That game will be held in Caldwell, Idaho on November 5 at 3:00 PM.
The Knights improve to 13-5-0 on the year while Corban ends its season at 6-12-1.
Lukic put the Knights up 1-0 in the 14th minute after heading a beautiful cross from Jacob Jackson past Corban keeper Aaron Franklin. The Knights struck again less than two minutes later with Price also scoring on a header, this time off a cross from Pat Connolly.
With the score 2-0 at the half, Lukic put the Knights up 3-0 less than five minutes into the second period after Jaxin Skyward found him alone near the penalty spot after a scramble in the box.
Corban cut the lead to 3-1 after Fernando Karczeski tapped in a shot from two yards out, but the Knights poured it on late in the second half, with Galvan finding the net in the 67th minute and Price scoring again of a great individual effort slicing through the Warrior back line.
Galvan finally finished the scoring with 48 seconds remaining in the match on a breakaway after a perfect through ball from Justin Coughlin.
For the game, the Knights had a 29-8 advantage in shots, with Alija Sacirovic amassing a game-high nine shots and Lukic tacking on eight.
