Point guard Meagan Miyasaka set a career and Oregon Tech school record dishing out 11 assists in the Owls 98-33 win over Pacific Union. Miyasaka was a perfect 7-7 from the floor for 14 points, tallied 4 steals and grabbed 3 rebounds.
Owls Open Season With Easy Win Over Pioneers
Klamath Falls, Ore. – Oregon Tech held visiting Pacific Union to 16 first half points and forced the visitors into 35 turnovers on their way to a 98-33 victory this afternoon at Danny Miles Court.
The Owls jumped out early 9-0 lead, increasing it to over a 20 point advantage at 29-8 and although Tech only shot 34% from the field in the first half, went into the locker room with a 42-16 lead. The second half was more of the same, as the Owls scored on their first 12 possessions to cement their 98-33 win.
Newcomer Nicole Morgan (Jr. Port Angeles, WA) led the Owl attack today with 17 points followed by Meagan Miyasaka’s (Sr. Honolulu, Hawaii) 14 points. Kellie Morey (Jr. Redmond, OR) and Kelsey New (Jr. Winston, OR) also finished in double digit points, each with 12. The Owls out rebounded their opponent 44 to 37, with Morgan grabbing 8 and Lindsay Renstrom and Aundrea Albright with 6 each. Miyasaka would also set a career and Oregon Tech record dishing out 11 assists on the day.
Up next for the Oregon Tech (1-0) will be a three game road swing leading them to Simpson University in Redding, CA on 11/7, Dominican University on 11/8 and will again meet with Pacific Union on Sunday 11/9. Tech’s next home game will be on November 15th versus Bethany University with the game set to start at 5:30PM.
