MCMINNVILLE, Ore.—Concordia opened up a 12-2 lead to start the game and never looked back in a 72-51 win over Linfield in non-conference women’s basketball action on Saturday night inside the Ted Wilson Gymnasium.

With the win, CU moved to 3-1 on the season while Linfield dropped to 0-1 after the season opener against the Cavs.

Ann Snodderly pushed Concordia out of the gate with eight of the team’s first 10 points en route to a game-high 14 points.

Shooting 43.9 percent from the floor while holding the Wildcats to a 24 percent rate in the first period, the Cavs mounted a 39-18 lead to enter intermission. The two clubs would each net 33 points in the second for the 72-51 finale.

Coming off the bench, Rachel Scarpelli and Rachel Bristow each reached double figures in the scoring column with Scarpelli posting an even dozen points and Bristow connecting on 4-of-5 from the floor and a pair of free throw makes for a 10-point haul. Rebecca Gimeno added 11 points to give CU four players with double digit scoring totals.

Snodderly added a team-high six rebounds while Gimeno notched a game-high eight assists.

Amanda Juarez and Stephanie Fennimore each had 10 points to pace the Wildcats.

Concordia returns to action on Nov. 28 when it contends at the Pacific Northwest Lutheran Invitational Tournament hosted by Pacific Lutheran on Nov. 28-29. The Cavs will face Wartburg University on Friday and Finlandia University on Saturday. Both games are slated for a 2 p.m. tip in Tacoma, Wash.
