KIRKLAND, Wash.- The NU Eagles defense limited Walla Walla U. to 9 second half points as they defeated the Wolves 82-26 in non-conference play this afternoon in the Pavilion

NU's defense limited Walla Walla to just 14% shooting from 2-point range (4-29) and 17% from the 3-point arc (1-6) as they held the Wolves to 19% shooting for the game. NU took a 36-17 lead at halftime, outscoring Walla Walla 46-9 in the second half. NU out rebounded Walla Walla 76-41.

Freshman Carleigh Newman (Ferndale, Wash.) led Northwest U. (2-3) with 22 points  and 14 rebounds for the double-double. Colleen Woods (Soph., Shoreline, Wash.) scored 15 points and freshman forward Jessalyn Jackson (Vancouver, Wash.) also logged a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Senior point guard Rachel Mitchell (N. Bend, Wash.) handed out a game high 5 assists and McKenzie McKean (Jr., Moses Lake, Wash.) grabbed 11 rebounds.

Heather McFadden (Soph., Cupertino, Calif.) led Walla Walla (0-8) with 12 points and 4 rebounds. 

"I was proud of our defense and it was nice seeing our young posts being able to contribute so much today," commented head coach Lori Napier following the game.

NU travels to Walla Walla this weekend to take part in the Whitman College Tournament and will face host Whitman at 6 p.m. on Friday night and Lewis-Clark State at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
