KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.  – Christian Cavanaugh led four Oregon Tech players in double figures with 20 points and 11 rebounds, as the Hustlin’ Owls continued their dominance over Southern Oregon with a 91-81 non-conference victory tonight at Danny Miles Court. No. 1 Oregon Tech remains undefeated, upping their record to 8-0, with their 22nd consecutive win over Southern Oregon dating back to 2002. Southern Oregon University drops to 2-3 overall with the loss.

The Owls led by as many as 10 points with 3:16 remaining in the first half, 37-27. A Raiders 12-4 run closed the gap, as the Hustlin’ Owls held a slim 41-39 lead at intermission.

In the second half, the Raiders quickly tied the contest at 41-41 and then again at 49-49, before taking their first lead of the game at 51-50 on an Austin Wolfer free throw.

A jumper by Christian Cavanaugh, on the Owls next possession, gave the lead back to Tech. The Owls then built their first double digit lead of the second half at 70-60 on a Josh Wetzler layup assisted by Cavanaugh.

The Raiders then made a game of it, clawing their way back and cutting the deficit to only four points at 79-75 with 4:24 remaining in the game.

Tech’s Josh Wetzler then converted on three straight layups to push the Owl lead to 85-75, where the Raiders could not recover. Both teams traded points for the remainder as the Owls took the game by the final of 91-81.

Cavanaugh’s double-double 20 points and 11 boards were both a game-high. Jguwon Hogges filled the stat sheet, netting 17 points and seven assists to go along with five blocks, six steals and four rebounds. Wetzler ended with a double-double 13 points and 10rebounds, followed by Andy Siverly with 11 points and six boards.

Kory Mahr led the Raiders with a team-high 14 points and six rebounds, followed by Eli Thornton with 13 points. Jarrad Childs finished with 12 points and Josh McDermott netted 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.

No. 1 ranked Oregon Tech (8-0) will take their perfect mark to the Southern Oregon / Statford Inn Classic this Friday in Ashland versus NAIA Division-I The Master’s College and on Saturday versus Simpson University. Both games are set to start at 5:30 p.m. with the Danny Miles Coaches Show to air on KLAD-92.5 FM 30 minutes prior to game time.
