PORTLAND, Ore. - The Eagles survived a Multnomah University 3-point aerial barrage tonight in notching a 97-66 win in a non-conferene game in Lytle Gymnasium.

Multnomah shot fifty-nine 3-point field goals and converted only 15 (25%). The Eagles defense also held MU to 27% shooting from 2-point range while averaging 50% in their attempts.

After leading by twelve at the half, 54-42, the Eagles went on a 18-1 run to start the second half to take a commanding 72-43 lead.

Leading the way for NU was sophomore Greg Peters (Belmont, St. Vincent) who came off the bench to score 18 points on 9 for 11 shooting including a thunderous dunk on an Eagle fastbreak. Peters was one of six NU players finishing with double figures for the night. Freshman guard Rich Skillman (Everson, Wash.) scored 14 points and had a game high 6 assists; Greg George (Soph., Seattle, Wash.) contributed 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots; senior Eddie Coulson (N. Las Vegas, Nev.) scored 12 points; junior Daley Landon (Waterville, Wash.) added 11 points for the Eagles; and sophomore Lucas Ashe (Spokane, Wash.) finished with 11 points.

NU out rebounded Multnomah 65 to 38 and had 28 assists on the night. The Eagles shot 81% from the free throw line for the evening.

MU was led by Nick Kamlade who scored 17 points and teammate Tyler Yates dropped in 16 points including 5 3-point field goals.

"We got off to a bit of a slow start tonight," stated head coach John Van Dyke, "but we talked during halftime about making some defensive and offensive adjustments and I was proud of how our starters went out at the beginning of the second half and executed what we had discussed. Another good night for our bench as they came on to the court and maintained our quality of play."
