Oregon Tech Captures Flagship Inn Classic
Ashland, Ore. – The Oregon Tech men’s basketball team captured the Flagship Inn Classic tonight with an 80-62 win over Simpson University at McNeal Pavilion in Ashland. The No. 1 ranked Owls remain perfect on the season at 10-0, two of those wins coming against the Red Hawks, while Simpson University drops to 1-7 overall.
Jguwon Hogges led all scorers with 19 points and added 4 assists. Christian Cavanaugh was 7-8 from the floor netting 17 points, while Josh Wetzler grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Owls never trailed in the game, as Tech jumped out to an 18 point advantage to lead 46-28 at the half.
Tech would push their lead to 64-36 in the second half, their largest of the game, before settling to the 80-62 final.
After hitting on only 4 of 22 attempts from the 3-point line last night, the Owls were 10-25 tonight (40.0%) and 33-58 (56.9%) from the floor. Tech outrebounded their opponents 38 to only 20 for Simpson.
The Hustlin’ Owls will next host the Bendigo Braves (Australia) in exhibition games on Monday, December 1st and Tuesday, December 2nd before beginning league action this Friday. The tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
