PARKLAND, Wash.–Concordia established a double-digit lead less than seven minutes into the game and ran away with an 85-55 women’s basketball win over Finlandia in the Pacific NW Lutheran Invitational tournament held at Pacific Lutheran University.

The Cavaliers, who improved their season record to 5-1, took an 18-8 lead on two free throws by Maryam Razavi with 13:38 left in the opening half, and they built on their lead from that point, eventually creating a 19-point spread before the end of the first period.

Using the full allotment of players, all 13 Cavaliers to see action ended up in both the scoring and rebounding column. Rachel Scarpelli led the team with 14 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Danielle Clauson added 12 points in the victory after converting 5-of-8 from the floor.

Jillian Dolkey scored 12 points and Ally Tincknell grabbed six rebounds to lead Finlandia, now 0-6 this season, in those categories.

Both teams shot the ball well with Finlandia making 21-of-44 for a 48 percent rate while Concordia shot 38-of-81 for 47 percent.

Concordia will next see the floor when it hosts Northwest University in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener on Dec. 5. Tip is slated for 5:30 in the Cavalier Gymnasium.
