WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Eagles trailed Lewis-Clark State by only four points at the half (42-38) but managed only 22 second half points as LCSC defeated NU 90-60 tonight in the Whitman College tournament.

NU took an early 15-10 lead on McKenzie McKean's free throw at the 13:26 mark in the first half. A jumper by the Eagle's Carleigh Newman would put NU up 20-12 with 12:16 to go in the half but a 10-2 Lewis-Clark run would tie the game at 22 all with 8:46 left in the half. A 3-pointer by NU's Rachel Mitchell and a lay-up by Newman would give the Eagles the lead once again at 27-22 (8:13), but LCSC would go on another run out scoring NU 10-2 to knot the game up again at 32 a piece at the 4:50 mark. LCSC would take the lead (38-34) after a 6-2 run and would end up taking a 42-38 lead at halftime.

Lewis-Clark would out score NU 18-7 to begin the second half to take a commanding 60-45 lead and would increase their lead to 20 points (72-52) with 9:40 to go in the contest as they would go on for the victory. LCSC shot 51% from 2-point range and 54% from the 3-point line in the second half as the Eagles could only manage 28% FG shooting and 14% shooting from the 3-point arc.

Colleen Woods (Soph., Shoreline, Wash.) and Carleigh Newman (Fresh., Ferndale, Wash.) led the Eagles (2-5) with 17 points a each and senior Dani Drivstuen (Monroe, Wash.) would drop in 9 points for NU.

Kim Preston finished with a game high 22 points for Lewis-Clark (6-3) and teammates Jasmine Stohr added 16 and Sadie Short dropped in 15 for the winners from Lewiston, Idaho.

"It was a tough loss tonight," stated Eagle head coach Lori Napier, "we will learn from this game and use this next week to get better so we will be ready for next weekend's conference games."

The Eagles will begin CCC play next weekend as they travel with the men's team to Portland to play Concordia on Friday night and Corban College in Salem, Oregon on Saturday evening.
