Yotes Clinch Tie for CCC Volleyball Crown
LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers went down in a hard fought battle (18-25, 20-25, 19-25) against No. 21-ranked College of Idaho Tuesday night. The win clinched at least a share of the league crown for the Yotes.
The Yotes led the entire first game, but EOU bounced back the second game. The Mounties stood their ground as the two teams battled, but the Yotes capitalized in final moments to clinch the win. After intermission, EOU came out fired up and ready to play. EOU gained momentum in the final points of game three, but it was too late to prevail over the Yotes.
Both teams showed extreme athleticism and competitiveness; however the Mounties struggled to pull it together at crucial times. Grace Deboodt led EOU with 10 kills and 12 digs. Teammate Jessica Lea had 12 assists and 9 digs.
The Mountaineers (18-9, 13-6 CCC) hit the road this weekend to finish up regular season play against Northwest Christian College (12-15, 5-13 CCC) Saturday, November 8th.
