Strong Second Half Lifts Cascade Past Multnomah
BOX SCORE
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Cascade men's basketball team defeated the visiting Lions from Multnomah University, 123-86 last night in a non-conference game.
Senior shooting guard Ben Pawlak scored 37 points to lead all scorers Thursday night as the T-Birds used a balanced scoring effort to hold off Multnomah University and improve their season record to 2-0.
"Our players really focused on making the extra pass tonight," Head Coach Anthony Baugher stated. "Multnomah's pressure and pace kept us out of rhythm in the first half, we were forced to make adjustments at the break and our players executed them extremely well in the 2nd half behind the leadership of Ben Pawlak."
Pawlak started the game hot and never cooled off, going 15 for 20 from the field and 7 for 12 behind the arc. He also had 6 rebounds and 7 of the T-Birds' 36 assists in the winning effort.
"Ben is the type of player who is always in the gym, before and after practice," Baugher stated. "He takes the time to get up extra shots; knowing his work ethic it comes as no surprise that he shot the ball so well tonight."
Pawlak was joined by six teammates in double-digits; Jared Mace scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds. Kao Saelee had 14 points, 8 assists, and 3 steals. The Barker brothers both logged in double-doubles for the contest, Ryan had 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Elliot finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Josh Brown had a solid night off the bench, scoring 12 points to go along with his 8 rebounds and 3 blocks and Tommy Allen added 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Cascade hosts Holy Names College Saturday, November 8th at 7:30pm.
