Pairings Set for 2008 Volleyball Championships
PORTLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho, the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season champion, will enter this week’s CCC Volleyball Championships as the No. 1 seed and serve as host to the semifinals and finals of the league’s six-team postseason tournament.
Southern Oregon University is the No. 2 seed. The Raiders, like the Coyotes, will earn a first-round bye.
Quarterfinal matches take place Tuesday in Klamath Falls and La Grande. In Klamath Falls, No. 3 seed Oregon Tech will play host to sixth-seeded Corban College; in La Grande, fourth-seeded Eastern Oregon will play host to No. 5 seed Concordia. Both quarterfinal matches begin at 7 p.m.
Quarterfinal winners will join the top seeds – College of Idaho and Southern Oregon – in Caldwell, Idaho for the semifinals on Friday. The championship match, pitting Friday’s semifinal winners, is slated for Saturday night.
The winner of the CCC’s postseason tournament will earn the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA Championships.
The 29th annual NAIA Volleyball Championships will feature 36 teams, with 12 first-round matches played Nov. 22 at on-campus sites. The top 12 teams will receive opening-round byes. The final 24 teams will travel to Sioux City, Iowa to play a pool-play format Dec. 2-6.
