Lady Owls Improve to 3-0 with Win at Dominican
San Rafael, CA -- The Oregon Tech women’s basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 67-66 nail biting win over the Penguins of Dominican University who drop to 0-1 on the season.
The Hustlin’ Owls jumped on top early hitting 7 of 10 three pointers and 13 of 26 from the floor to take a 41-36 halftime lead. The Lady Penguins came out firing in the second half and eventually took a five point lead with less the 4 minutes to play. Tech answered with a huge three pointer from Lisa Busch (Eugene, OR) to take the back with less then 2:00 minutes to play. The teams exchanged layups and after a Nicole Morgan (Port Angeles, WA) free throw gave Tech the Lead 67-66 time ran out before Dominican could get off a shot as Amanda Johnston (Myrtle Point, OR) tipped away an in-bounds pass under the Penguins basket and time expired.
Oregon Tech got a double-double from Alley West (Sacramento, CA) off the bench as she scored 11 points and grabbed a team high 10 rebounds. Amanda Johnston led the Owls scoring attack with 14 points followed by 13 each for Kellie Morey (Redmond, OR) and Lisa Busch. Dominican was led Kelsey Janusch (Novato, CA) with 26 points and Alisha Flaaten (Hayward, CA) with 20 points.
