PORTLAND, Ore. -- College of Idaho’s Christon Vander Esch, a 5-11 senior forward from Riggins, Idaho, has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball.

Vander Esch helped the Yotes to home victories over NCAA opponents Willamette and Linfield in the Best Western Inn Lady Yote Classic. In an 84-53 win over Willamette, Vander Esch had a CCC record 15 steals – one off the NAIA record – in addition to scoring 24 points, pulling down seven rebounds and handing out seven assists.

One night later, against Linfield, she had 16 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal in an 87-57 win over the Wildcats.

For the week, Vander Esch averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assist and 8.0 steals while shooting 52 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line.

The Lady Yotes take an overall record of 8-1 into their CCC opener Friday night at Oregon Tech.
