PORTLAND, Ore. -- Cascade junior Kristina Schumacher, a 5-6 guard from Lake Stevens, Wash., has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball.

Schumacher, who currently leads the NAIA in scoring (27.1 ppg), racked up 77 points in helping lead the Thunderbirds to a 3-0 record last week.

Schumacher had 25 points in an 82-78 win over Montana Tech, and back-to-back outings of 22 points and 30 points in a two-game sweep of Kwantlen University. The junior college transfer sank 31 of 77 shots from the field in addition to pulling down 13 rebounds, recording 15 steals and handing out nine assist in the three games.

Cascade, off to an 8-0 overall record, travels to Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho for CCC games this weekend.
