CLEVELAND, Ohio.—After a pair of successful soccer seasons for Concordia University, the school moved up 11 places to No. 2 in the most recent NAIA Leerfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings released on Dec. 18.

The Cavaliers received 238 points to trail only top-ranked Azusa Pacific for CU’s all-time best posting in the Directors’ Cup standings. The Cougars gathered a sum of 324 points for the top overall spot while Indiana Institute of Technology finished in third with 195 points.

Four fall sports recorded top-25 finishes for Concordia, including a runner-up result by the women’s soccer team for 90 points and a ninth-place score from the men’s soccer team for 53 points to pus the Cavaliers into the top 5 for the first time in school history. Earlier in the year, the Cavalier cross country teams each represented CU at nationals for an additional 95 points between the men’s and women’s teams.

Along with Concordia, fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference representatives The College of Idaho and Southern Oregon also cracked the top 40. C of I placed 16th overall with 134.5 points while SOU garnered 80 points for 38th.

The Yotes were led by a ninth-place NAIA finish in women’s cross country while a fourth-place result by the men’s cross country team paced SOU.

The final Directors’ Cup standings for the fall will be released on Dec. 23.
