Christmas Comes Early to Corban With Signing of Nippert
SALEM, Ore. – Second-year head coach Nathan Ohta announced the signing of his third recruit today in current Whitney High School senior Stephanie Nippert (Rocklin, Calif.) to a Letter of Intent for the 2009-2010 season.
Nippert, a 5-foot-8 outfielder from Whitney High School, joins fellow Class of 2013 members Nicole Sikes and Tamara Feb who both signed letters earlier this year.
"Stephanie is a talented athlete that will have a tremendous impact on the Warrior softball program," said Ohta. "She is a very good defensive outfielder with a strong arm. Offensively, she swings the bat extremely well. She will be a great addition to our team."
A two-time Pioneer Valley League Offensive Player of the Year, Nippert also earned back-to-back all-league honors as a sophomore and junior.
As a junior, Nippert helped lead Whitney High School to an overall record of 18-13 that included an 8-4 mark in league play. In 31 games, Nippert batted .351 with 33 hits in 94 at-bats that included five doubles, three triples, and three home runs. In the season-opener against Del Campo on February 27th, Nippert registered a season-high four RBI. Three times during her junior campaign, Nippert recorded three hits with the final one coming against Dixon High School on May 14th in a perfect 3-for-3 performance that included a run scored and one RBI.
As a sophomore, Nippert helped guide the Wildcats to a win-loss record of 20-12 that included an 8-4 record in Pioneer Valley League play. Nippert batted .352 with 32 hits in 91 at-bats that included six doubles, six triples, and a pair of home runs in 30 games for the Wildcats. On two different occasions, Nippert registered a career-high five RBI with the final one coming against Armijo High School on March 9th via a pair of triples in four at-bats. Four different times during her sophomore season, Nippert registered a season-best three hits with the final time coming against Lincoln High School on May 14th via a perfect 3-for-3 performance.
In two seasons as a Wildcat, Nippert recorded eight outfield assists while registering 28 stolen bases that included a team-best 21 as a sophomore.
In two seasons at the helm of the Warriors, Ohta has signed ten players including his top three recruits for next season in the aforementioned trio of Sikes, Feb, and Nippert to play softball for Corban.
