C of I Drops Opening Match at NAIA Volleyball Tourney
SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Erica Janszen led all players with 14 kills, as No. 6 ranked Georgetown College opened up pool play at the NAIA Volleyball Championships with a 16-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22 victory over The College of Idaho inside the Tyson Events Center.
For the Lady Yotes (24-8), it ended a season-high 13-match win streak and forces The C of I to win their next two matches to advance out of pool play.
Naomi Reimer led the Lady Yotes with 11 kills, with Megan Spinks adding eight - but The C of I recorded 23 hitting errors in the match and lost despite a two-to-one margin in team blocks. Madie Machurek had 19 assists and 13 digs and Whitney Owen had 21 digs for the Yotes.
The Tigers (34-6) got 12 kills and 11 digs from Jessica Hoeh and nine kills and four blocks from Kristy Hock.
The C of I returns to action Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. against No. 7 ranked Cal Baptist.
