Cavs Defeat Willamette for 10th Straight Win
PORTLAND, Ore.—Holding the Bearcats to 26.7 percent shooting and forcing 31 turnovers, Concordia defeated Willamette 88-46 in women’s basketball action on Monday evening.
After opening the season with a loss, Concordia has posted a victory in its last 10 matches for a 10-1 record. Willamette, playing for the first time since the sudden passing of head coach Bruce Henderson, dropped to 1-5 on the season.
All 13 players on the bench entered the scoring and the rebounding column for the Cavaliers. Kenna Borgmeier led the attack with 14 points after a 5 of 7 performance from the field. Rebecca Gimeno added 11 and Ann Snodderly recorded 10 point to give the Cavaliers three players in double figures. Danielle Clauson grabbed a team-high six rebounds while adding eight points.
Molly Fillion led the Bearcats with 17 points and 19 rebounds, including seven off the offensive glass. Alex Zennan chipped in with 13 points and Jenny Fillion posted double figures with 10 boards.
Concordia will return to action on Jan. 2 when it resumes Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a road match at Southern Oregon. Opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m. in Ashland.
