Led by a game-high 24 points, Oregon Tech won its conference opener 79-60 over College of Idaho tonight at Danny Miles Court. The No. 1 ranked Owls remain perfect at 11-0 on the season.
No. 1 Hustlin Owls Win Conference Opener
Klamath Falls, Ore. – Oregon Tech had four players in double-figures, led by a game-high 24 points from Justin Parnell, as the Hustlin’ Owls won their Cascade Conference opener 79-60 tonight at Danny Miles Court.
Parnell added seven assists to go with his 24 points, while Jguwon Hogges followed with 16 points and five rebounds. Christian Cavanaugh added 12 points and four boards with Josh Wetzler netting 10 points and grabbing five caroms.
Craig McGee knocked down 23 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for the Yotes. Steffen Spinks added 14 points while Jordan Stokes dropped in 13 points.
Oregon Tech would jump out to an eight point lead on two occasions, the last at 31-23 with 4:27 remaining in the first half. College of Idaho then strung together an 8-0 run to tie the game at 31-31. Both teams then traded points and went to the locker room tied 34-34 at the half.
It was all Owls in the second half, as Tech gained their first double-digit lead of the game at 49-39 with 14:48 remaining. The Owls then went on a 17-7 run to put the game out of reach, increasing the lead to 20 points at 66-46 at the 8:19 mark, and cruised to the final of 79-60.
The Owls are a perfect 11-0 on the season and move to 1-0 in Cascade Conference play. College of Idaho dropped to 3-6 and 0-1 in the CCC. Tech will host Eastern Oregon, losers at Southern Oregon 82-77, tomorrow night. The Yotes travel to Ashland and take on the Raiders of Southern Oregon.
