Concordia Blasts Northwest to Open Conference Season

PORTLAND, Ore.—Limiting the Eagles to 20.4 percent shooting on the night, the Concordia women’s basketball team defeated Northwest University 89-39 to open the Cascade Collegiate Conference season on Friday night.

With the win, Concordia improved to 6-1 on the year while Northwest dropped to 2-6 overall.

"Our team came out with a great start to the conference season,” Concordia head coach Aaron Christian said. “I was really proud of our team effort tonight. Every member of this team contributed and it was great to see."

Led by 22 points by Rebecca Gimeno, the Cavaliers had four players reach double figures in scoring. Ann Snodderly added 16 points after converting on 7-of-12 attempts from the field and completed the double double by collected 11 rebounds, leading a 52-to-30 team advantage in boards over the Eagles.

Northwest was led by a team-high nine points and seven rebounds by Dani Drivstuen.

Concordia returns to action on Saturday when it hosts The Evergreen State College at 5:30 p.m.
