Lady Owls Fall to Eastern

Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Oregon Tech women’s basketball team was upended 77-70 by Eastern Oregon University tonight in Cascade Conference play. The Lady Owls drop to 7-4 overall and 0-2 in conference action, while Eastern Oregon improves to 5-2 and even in the CCC standings at 1-1.

Amanda Johnston, scoring a career-high last night, stayed hot netting 20 points for the Lady Owls. Kellie Morey finished with 14 points while Nicole Morgan scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds. Point guard Meagan Miyasaka finished with a game-high eight rebounds and eight assists.

Eastern Oregon had five players score in double-figures led by Ashlee Michelson with 17 points and five rebounds. Jenny Fiso knocked in 16 points and handed out six assists, while Selena Leavitt finished with 12 points. Tana Stickney and Alyssa Garro scored 11 points and 10 points respectively.

The Lady Owls led 6-4 shortly into the contest, but EOU would quickly tie the game at 6-6 and not look back. The Mountaineers increased their lead to seven points at 25-18 half way through the first period, taking a 43-35 lead to the locker room.

A 7-2 Owl run to start the second period put Tech back in the game at 45-42, but an EOU 12-2 run put the Mountaineers back in control at 57-44 with just over 11 minutes remaining to play.

Tech would cut the deficit to only six points with 6:23 on the clock, but could get no closer, losing by the final of 77-70.

Oregon Tech will host Willamette University, the last non-conference game of the season, on Saturday, December 13th. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
