BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Cascade men's basketball team defeated Walla Walla University, 102-90 last night in a non-conference game.

Two nights after seeing a five-game winning streak end, Josh Brown led an extraordinary shooting performance from the T-Birds against the Wolves on Sunday.

Brown, who had 19 points in the conference opener Friday, scored a career-high 30 points and the Thunderbirds scored over a 100 points for the fourth time in this young season to get back on track. The T-Birds were 36-for-77 (46.8%) from the floor last night.

Cascade is currently ranked 1st in the nation (NAIA II) in scoring, averaging 100 points a game, 3rd in the nation in assists with 21.3 a game, and 4th in the nation in field goal percentage at 53%.

Cascade improved to 5-1 at home and 6-1 overall.

"Josh is an amazing athlete that enjoys to compete," Head coach Anthony Baugher stated. "We can always count on him to bring us the much needed energy off the bench. Tonight he literally took over the game, it was impressive." Josh Brown was 11-for-19 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the free throw line. He also had 9 rebounds and 2 assists.

According to Baugher, the turning point in the game was the play of his two freshmen Cody Hutchin and John Pflaum. "I didn't really feel that we were playing with the intensity to compete at this level in the second half, so I looked to John and Cody to get us going," Baugher states. "I felt the team responded to their play, it really motivated our starters to play harder."

Ben Pawlak added 22 points and 4 assists for Cascade. Jared Mace scored 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting; he also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Tommy Allen finished with 13 points, and the Barker brothers each grabbed 12 rebounds for the T-Birds.

Walla Walla University was paced by Dustin Miracle's 18 points.

The Thunderbirds will return to the hardwood on Friday, December 12th against Kwantlen University, game time is 7:30pm.
