Four Cavaliers Named to 2008 NAIA Soccer All-Tournament Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo.—After making their second appearance in the NAIA National Championship game, four Concordia University women’s soccer players were selected to the 13-member all-tournament team, the NAIA announced this week.
Senior defender Jackie Pronovost (Milwaukie, Ore.) was named as the tournament’s Most Valuable Defender while senior forward Justine Pronovost (Milwaukie, Ore.) junior goalkeeper Georgie Christensen (Hillsboro, Ore.) and senior midfielder Caitlin Verhofstadt (Silverdale, Wash.) were also selected to the all-tournament team.
National champion Lee University (Tenn.) also had four honorees, including Most Valuable Player Christiane Christensen and Most Valuable Offensive Player Jamie Achten.
Lee defeated Concordia 3-0 in the national championship game held in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Dec. 6. Entering the match with a undefeated record, the loss snapped a 22-game winning streak for the Cavaliers. The fifth seed in the tournament, Concordia finished the season with a 23-1-1 record. Lee University, the No. 3 seed, ended the year at 24-1-1.
