Willamette's Bruce Henderson Passes Away, Games Versus CCC Opponents Canceled
SALEM, Ore. – It was learned late Monday evening that Willamette's head women's basketball coach Bruce Henderson collapsed and passed away from a heart-related incident during practice inside Cone Field House.
After athletic directors from Willamette, Corban, Southern Oregon, and Oregon Tech conversed over the phone, it was decided that tonight's Corban-Willamette women's basketball game, as well as this weekend's Oregon Tech Classic, would be canceled so that everyone could focus on this unforeseen tragedy.
Henderson, who was in his fourth season as head coach of the Bearcats, was 47 years old and is survived by his wife, Nikki Binnie-Henderson, a former student-athlete at Willamette.
There will be a memorial celebration on Sunday, December 14th, at 1:30 p.m. inside the Cone Field House on the campus of Willamette University to honor and remember Coach Henderson.
