Turnovers Costly for NU in Loss to Puget Sound
KIRKLAND, WA - #19 Puget Sound forced 24 Northwest U. turnovers as they defeated the Eagles 97-82 in non-conference play tonight.
Puget Sound (3-0) was led by Robert Krauel’s 24 points as he shot 9-15 from the field. Antwan Williams added 16 points and teammate Austin Boyce added 14 points. Jason Foster added another 10 for the Loggers. UPS took a 56-47 lead into the locker room at halftime after shooting a blazing 66.7% from the floor and 41% from 3-ppint range and led the entire second half.
Northwest U. (3-3) was led by junior Derek Miller (Cheney, WA/Big Bend CC) with 23 points and shooting 6 for 7 from the 3-point line. Eddie Coulson (N. Las Vegas, NV/Western Washington U.) dropped in 15 for NU. Luke Hammond (Brier, WA/BCC) and Chase Van Cleave (Jr., Puyallup, WA/Rogers HS) each scored 10 for the Eagles. NU shot 69.2% from 2-point range, shot 71% on 5 for 7 shooting from 3-point range in the first half but it was the 24 turnovers for the game that was costly for the Eagles.
