Nels Norquist arrives from Clackamas CC.
Cascade Names New Volleyball Coach
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Cascade College is pleased to announce that Nels Norquist has been named head volleyball coach.
Norquist arrives from Clackamas Community College where he had served as an assistant coach since 2005. Under long-time head coach Kathie Woods,he was part of a highly successful program that was NWAACC runner-up in 2006. His duties included recruiting, individual workouts, and coaching summer camps.
Nels also coached junior varsity at Canby High School since 2003 and Canby 16’s club team since 2003 as well. He is currently coaching the 15’s premier team for North Clackamas Volleyball Club.
After receiving his AA from Clackamas Community College in 2001, Norquist finished his education at Western Oregon University where he was a member of the men’s club volleyball team. He earned a BS in Integrated Science Education from WOU in 2003, and is a licensed teacher in the State of Oregon. Nels continues to play in many outdoor tournaments, and in the men’s power league around the area.
“Nels is an enthusiastic coach and we are glad that he will be joining our staff,” commented Athletic Director Jeremy Schwartz. “His excitement for the game and his Christ-like approach to coaching is a great fit here at Cascade.”
Coach Norquist will begin his duties immediately and will be actively recruiting for the 2008 season. “I am very excited to join the Cascade team and to see what God has in store for us!” said Norquist.
