PORTLAND, Ore.—With a dominating 56-4 edge in bench scoring, Concordia University ousted Cascade College 87-66 in Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s basketball action on Friday night.

With the win, Concordia moved back to .500 with a 13-13 overall record and 9-8 in the conference while Cascade dropped to 5-20 overall and 0-17 in the CCC.

A pair of first-year players led the Cavalier offensive attack with transfer Steven Vaughan (Milwaukie, Ore./Rex Putnam H.S.) dropping a season-high 22 points and freshman Sergio Rosario (Dayton, Ore./Dayton H.S.) netting a career-best 19 points. The duo accounted for 25 of the team’s 43 points in the first half to push the Cavs to a 43-33 lead at the half.

With only 16 points scored on the season, Rosario easily eclipsed his previous career high of seven points and more than doubled his season tally. Vaughan held a previous season best of 21 points against Oregon Tech on Jan. 5.

In the second period, the Cavs shot 58.1 percent from the floor while holding the Thunderbirds to just 10 field goals to push its lead to 21 before the final buzzer.
