Tech Baseball Picks Up First Win of Season

REDDING, Calif.---Oregon Tech got their first win of the season, giving NCAA II Northwest Nazarene University their first loss on the year, with a 7-2 win in a game played in Redding, CA today.

Casey Burton (Sr. Redding, CA) turned in a complete game victory in his homecoming, giving head coach Matt Miles his first collegiate win for the Owls. Tech had five players with multiple hits with Lee Eklund (Jr. Salem, OR), Frank Drake (Jr. Central Point, OR) and Kenny Simmons (Jr. Novato, CA) each hitting homeruns for the Owls in game one.

In game two versus host Simpson University, Josh Strom (Jr. Canby, OR) finished with a no decision, as the Tech defense had three errors that gave Simpson four unearned runs in a 5-4 loss in the nightcap. Lee Eklund hit his second homer of the day in game two with no other stats available until Monday.

Tomorrow Oregon Tech (1-5) will travel to Turlock, CA where they will play NCAA II Cal State Stanislaus in a double header beginning at 11:00am.
