Oregon Tech Baseball Signs Hillsboro Duo
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Oregon Tech head baseball coach Matt Miles announced today the signing of two players both from Glencoe High School in Hillsboro, Oregon for the 2009 season. Kyle Sprecher and Eric Ellis have both signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Oregon Tech next year. Coach Miles said, “These two young men are quality players and great individuals that will make a major impact to our program. Coach Roofener at Glencoe high school has done a great job with both of these players instilling the work ethic and commitment needed to excel and play at the college level. They respect the game, hustle and play hard each time they step onto the field which makes them a great fit here with Tech.”
Kyle Sprecher was selected to the All-Northwest Oregon Conference Team, batting .416 in league with 32 runs, 9 stolen bases, had a .486 slugging percentage and .462 on base percentage as his team made it to the State Tournament in High School and Legion ball. Kyle lettered in baseball three years and also lettered in basketball as a sophomore. Kyle is an Honor Roll student and will be majoring in civil engineering at OIT. Kyle is the son of Duane and Kristi Sprecher of Hillsboro, Oregon.
Eric Ellis was team Captain, selected as an All-league outfielder the last two seasons and helped lead his team to the second round of the state playoffs. In 26 games Eric had a batting average of .424, a .576 slugging percentage and had an on base percentage of .510. Eric also played free safety in football. Eric has a GPA of 3.8 is a National Honors Society member and a member of the Honor Roll. He will be a computer engineering major at OIT. Eric is the son of Scott and Joanie Ellis of Hillsboro, Oregon.
